About
Hana Yoon is a product designer based in San Francisco, currently leading design systems at a Series B startup.
Before that, she worked on consumer products at a design consultancy in Seoul, where she developed a deep appreciation for Craft's approach to document design.
This journal is where she thinks out loud about design decisions, research methods, and the messy reality of building products.
Her path to design was anything but linear. She graduated from KAIST with a degree in industrial design, then spent two years at Forma — a boutique consultancy in Gangnam — doing consumer app design for Korean startups. In 2022, she moved to San Francisco to join an early-stage company that would eventually become Canopy.
Today she leads design systems at Canopy, a Series B company building collaboration tools. Her team of three maintains the component library, runs the design critique program, and writes internal documentation that the whole company actually reads.
Outside of work, she keeps busy with this journal (written in Craft, published with Cravo), a monthly design systems newsletter that's grown to 2,400 subscribers, and the occasional speaking gig at local meetups and conferences.

San Francisco, where the fog meets the deadline
Design is not just what it looks like. Design is how it works — and how it gets published.
All writing and publishing happens in Craft → Cravo. No CMS, no WordPress, no code.
